Abstract: Harding compares media coverage of aboriginals in the 1860s to media coverage of aboriginals in the 1990s in 4 major events. His discourse analysis describes the news coverage and he finds the general traits of news discourse about aboriginal people have not changed in over 100 years. Texts still try to protect dominant interests and position aboriginals as threats, although modern reporting is more sympathetic; it contains limited dissent and some aboriginal voices. by Duncan Koerber
